TiVo to offer Web-Based Videos on their boxes
TiVo Inc. is the market leaders in the Digital video recording market and now they are teaming up with an online video service to deliver Web-based programming on their boxes.
The company has signed a deal with Brightcove Networks Inc. and it would now enable TiVo owners to watch Internet-based videos from Brightcove’s content partners.
Brightcove has been working as a video publishing service since November last year and they provide a platform for established or small independent producers a way to create online videos. These are then syndicated through Brightcove’s distribution channels.
Brightcove’s founder and CEO, Jeremy Allaire spoke about this deal: “This is the first partnership for us to get content directly to the TV set.â€
They are already dealing with Time Warner Inc. to start distributing videos this summer on AOL’s Web portal. TiVo on the other hand is working on adding more similar services for their consumers.
