Bill aims to block sites like MySpace.com for minors

MySpace.com is one of the fastest growing online social networking portals. This makes them easy targets for online predators looking out for vulnerable kids.

This has led to a serious backlash from the government organizations who are now aiming at establishing a bill, which might force sites like MySpace.com to block their sites for minors.

In addition, libraries and other public institutions might ban these kinds of websites on their workstations.

The introduced bill is named “Deleting Online Predators Act of 2006” and it has been introduced by Michael G. Fitzpatrick, a first time representative.

Interestingly, the bill uses a very wide language to define a “social networking” site, which makes it applicable on a very broad spectrum of online services.

Fitzpatrick said in a statement about this bill: “Sites like Myspace and Facebook have opened the door to a new online community of social networks between friends, students and colleagues. However, this new technology has become a feeding ground for child predators that use these sites as just another way to do our children harm.”

this is the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard. people know the consequences to signing up to websites such as myspace and if parents are so worried about it check the history on your computer or call the internet provider and get it blocked or at least monitored. and its stupid that they’re trying to pass a bill to get ride of myspace for minors especially because me and alot of other so called minors would be aloud to do it and if they are so worried about these so called minors why dont they pick up a dictionary and look up the definition and see that the actual meaning is lesser in importance, seriousness, or significance so why would it matter the only reason they’re trying to get a bill for it is to make them look good so that it looks like they care about other things then them having power over everyone
