US Adult Film Industry to deliver content online

Hollywood is still afraid of delivering movies online for copying on DVD so that consumers can watch it on their television sets. The fear of online piracy has delayed such services in the past.

However, the adult industry is going ahead with their plans to deliver content on the internet for their consumers. Vivid Entertainment has said in a statement that they would sell its adult films through the online movie service CinemaNow. Consumers would be able to copy them on DVDs and play them on regular players and not only on their computers.

This is yet another first for the adult industry as it has stayed ahead of the Hollywood in adapting technologies to their benefits.

Market analysts believe that the decision to wait is good as the porn industry can test out the technology for the mainstream film industry and workout the bugs.

The mainstream movie studios are expected to follow suit considering they make more money on selling DVDs of movies than showing them in theatres. However, they might face a backlash from some of the biggest retail stores who might become a victim of this technology’s success.

Consumer as a result would be the winner…
