Creative sues Apple on patent infringement claims
Creative has essentially failed to challenge the domination of Apple Computers in the digital music players market. Now, they are challenging the company in the courts claiming that the iPod maker of infringing on one of Creative’s patents.
Creative has also filed a complaint in the U.S. International Trade Commission. Both the complaints are related to claims that Apple is violating its patent on a navigation system and method for organizing and accessing music on portable players.
Creative is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages. In addition, they are also demanding that Apple stop selling the iPod music player in the market as it is infringing on their patents. Apple has yet to respond to these new charges. The company has just received some relief in another case related to the copyright on the name Apple.
Apple is currently the dominating player in the digital music players market and Creative has failed with their many attempts to break their monopoly in the market. However, these latest attempts would not win them many fans in the market.
