Tom Alexander leaves Virgin Mobile after NTL acquisition
The founder and the chief executive of Virgin Mobile Tom Alexander has announced that he would be leaving the company now that NTL is acquiring the company.
Tom was the guy behind the concept of the mobile virtual network operator and he said that the decision to leave the company was a fairly recent one.
He added: “It’s a great opportunity [for Virgin Mobile] but it would be different for me. It doesn’t suit me.†Apparently, he does not want to work as part of a large organization and preferred the earlier setup.
NTL on their part had hoped that Alexander and his management team would stay on following the completion of the deal. The deal would enable them to offer four services - fixed line and mobile telephony, internet, and pay television.
The new managing director of the Virgin Mobile unit would be Alan Gow who is currently the chief financial officer in the company.
Tom on the other hand would work as a consultant for the group until the end of the current year.
