Apple iTunes selling content from Discovery Channel
Discovery Communications has now begun selling their programs on the hugely popular Apple iTunes web store. Some of the popular program on offer are “MythBusters” and “Shark Week”.
This is just another example of how a major broadcasting network is expanding its presence on the internet scene. The aim is to generate more revenues and find new sources of advertising.
Discovery is also expanding their internet presence as it just recently launched two video-focused Internet sites, Discovery Channel Beyond and Travel Channel Beyond. Animal Planet Beyond would be coming next.
Apple iTunes users can now download content developed by Discovery for the standard iTunes rate of $1.99. The two companies (Discovery and Apple Computers) would be sharing the revenues.
Discovery had also just recently begun offering streaming video content to Google Earth. The future seems to be internet for this hugely popular television network.
