Yahoo! expects little gain from online ad system this year
Search engine and the operators of the world’s most visited web portal Yahoo! are due to introduce its revamped Web search advertising system in the third quarter of the current year.
However, this is expected to contribute little in their revenues for the current year. Yahoo’s Chief Financial Officer Sue Decker said in a statement to the analysts: “We don’t expect a financial contribution this year. We are looking more toward 2007. It would be premature to try and put numbers around that.â€
The company added that they plan to allow international advertisers to use their services by early next year. American customers would be able to participate by the end of the current year.
This would be the first major overhaul of their online advertisement services since they acquired the pioneering ad system from Overture in 2003.
