Bike Enthusiasts disappointed with Yamaha Gladiator

Japanese automotive giants Yamaha were once the dominating player in the motorcycle segment in India. They had some of the most fascinating products we have ever seen in the market.

Their Yamaha RD 350 was a legendary bike and Indian consumers loved the Yamaha RX 100.

However, things changed as the pollution norms became tough and the companies had to switch to more fuel efficient and conservative bikes. Hero Honda became the market leader as their Splendor stole the hearts of millions with its awesome reliability and impressive fuel efficiency.

Now, we have Bajaj Auto, Honda competing with Hero Honda to attract the consumers but Yamaha has become one of the also ran players in the market.

The company showed some courage when they displayed the awesome Yamaha Gladiator at the Auto Expo. But the model, which has finally arrived in the showroom, is more like a scaled down version. People are already disappointed considering it comes with just a 125cc engine and would not be providing an alternative for the fabulous Bajaj Pulsar.

We have some comments here, which confirm that Yamaha is repeating their mistakes by launching not so exciting bikes in the Indian market, which is ready to buy expensive but exciting bikes. Yamaha Gladiator Indian version does not look like that.

Congratulations Yamaha – for effectively neutering the Gladiator. The Auto Expo had hinted that Yamaha has finally risen and addressed the needs of the Indian Biker. But unfortunately – they are repeating the mistakes of the past. They had a golden opportunity in bringing a market leader in terms of styling and technology. However – they have let it slip through. Here’s congratulating Bajaj Auto for showing the guts and bringing on stuff that the Indian Biker wants. So the scores in Round Three are –
Bajaj : Three (Discover, Pulsar twins) ,
    Honda : One (Unicorn) ,
Suzuki, Yamaha : Zero (pathetically regular Zeus, Heat and Gladiator and Libero respectively),
    TVS Motors: One (Unicorn)
    Hero Honda :1.5 (Achiever 0.5, ‘Zma 1).

If I’ve forgotten something – plz add it to this list.

But all in all – Bajaj leads the pack … Hmm…maybe it takes an Indian to realize the Indian biker’s heart.

The Yamaha is back to where they should be. Rock bottom. Why don’t they shutdown their shutters in India. An absolute disappoiting bike..Gladiator(Indian vsersion).

They CEO said “They had learnt from their mistake” but what did he learn???? …to repeat the same mistake again…!! Gosh he needs to fired!!!! If any Yamaha Supervisor reading this please foorward it to the CEO…!

Gladiator???? whats up with that!!! nothing …! Its all in all the same YBX engine with a different name! Stop fooling around here in India. Do your homework..pass the examination and then come back to India.

Bajaj & Honda hats off to you folks….! Great going! Wuld like to see more promising bikes!

I dont understand why Yamaha is sulking so much. Bring the 150CC into India. you will not repent. Indians now need more powerful bikes….

    Hi,

Why cant the Yamaha co. launch some of their models which are in production in other countries. They are good with the powerful bikes and they should concentrate on the niche market, than spoiling their already spoilt name in the market. I’ve never been to a Yamaha show room after I lost my Rx 135 in Bangalore. All Yamaha 4strokes in India are junk, some one should tell this to the management.

    hi guys,

dont just blame yamaha. u know some thing? bajaj is one of the worlds worst automobile companies. the bajaj bikes like pulsar, discover are of very very bad quality. their engines are especially hell holes. but yamaha is engineering. ofcourse their models might fail in india. but they r of high quality compared to bajaj

Yamaha is truly the world’s greatest motorcycle company and I dont think they deserve to be treated this way.Bajaj might be doing well currently but can their discover or maybe even Pulsar cannot be as relied upon as the Yamaha.I wish people could show some gratitude towards Yamaha. The Gladiator is amazing and is definetely a substitute for those who cannot afford 150cc and above machines.I wonder what people would say when the Gladiator 165 is finally launched.I beg people to show some class.
