Sony Ericsson launches W710, W850, Z550, Z710 and M608c mobile phones

Sony Ericsson has launched five new mobile phones targeted at the upcoming holiday season coming at the end of the current year. These new models include two flip phones, two Walkman phones and one, which comes with Chinese character handwriting recognition.

All of these new models are expected to be available in the market by the third quarter of the year and is aimed to take on the newer models coming from rivals including Nokia, Samsung and LG.

Steve Walker, head of product marketing for Sony said in a statement: “The launches will be spread through the third quarter. Having phones in the market is very important for Q4 sales. We’ve announced more phones than last year. There’s now something for everyone in our portfolio.”

The company has already launched as many as 20 new models within this year itself. Most of these models have been in their Walkman branded range and some even came with the Cybershot camera brands.

The five new models are: W710, W850, Z550, Z710 and M608c

W710 Walkman: It comes with a motion sensor and a fitness software program. The package would also include a strap and special earphones to make it easier for users to use them during workouts. It is expected to be priced between 200 and 300 euros.

W850 Walkman: This is a slider model and is capable of connecting to third generation mobile phone networks for fast music downloads. It also comes with the capability of recording audio from radio stations. It is expected to cost more than 300 euros.

Z550: It is a flip phone and is expected to be priced between 150 and 200 euros. It would be targeted at the budget market.

Z710: This one is a bit expensive and is aimed towards the business users. It has a 2 Megapixel camera and connects via most 2G GSM networks. Pricing should be between 200 and 300 euros.

M608c: This is a variant of the existing M600 email phone and comes with Chinese characters recognition.
