Yamaha target improved sales from Tamil Nadu and Kerala

Yamaha is working hard on improving their market share in the Indian market. They were the market leaders once with their products like RX100 very popular amongst Indian consumers.

Times changed and Hero Honda took over. Bajaj Auto and Honda now are the challengers while Yamaha has become an also ran player in India.

Yamaha has now decided to get back its lost position in the Indian market as they have just launched an interesting product in the form of Yamaha Gladiator.

They are also aiming at increased sales from the South Indian market especially Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Yamaha has targeted an increase of 10,000 units in bike sales in Tamil Nadu and Kerala each in 2006-07, to 46,000 units in Tamil Nadu and 28,000 units in Kerala.

The company believes that they faltered in this region in the past due to lack of dealerships. To fix this, they have tied up with eight dealers in Chennai alone.
