Windows Live Search: Microsoft to release corporate search tools
Software giants Microsoft has said in a statement that they are planning release a test version of a product to help workers simultaneously find information on their computer desktop, the Internet and corporate networks.
This would be a crucial move by the company to counter the challenges provided by search engine market leaders Google who are also present in the enterprise search market.
The aim is to help people and corporate users deal with the mass of information available locally and on the internet.
This free product will be called Windows Live Search and would be available for free. Interestingly, the company already has a similarly named Internet-only search product. They have however no plans to merge the functionality of these two products.
This tool would be pre-installed in their upcoming update to their operating system Windows Vista.
However, the ability to search corporate networks will only be available to those who use Microsoft’s SharePoint server software. Google’s own applications are however free of any such limitations.
