NASA moves Space shuttle Discovery to launch pad
NASA has finally started moving the space shuttle Discovery to the launch pad preparing it for the upcoming mission launch.
Discovery is being moved to its launch pad at NASA’s Cape Canaveral, in Florida. NASA is aiming at a launch period between 1 and 19 July.
This upcoming mission would only be the second Space Shuttle mission after the Columbia incident, which resulted in death of the entire crew onboard.
NASA has worked tremendously on improving safety of the Shuttle since then. They learnt a lot from the Discovery mission last year, which also had its share of massive problems.
Shuttle programme manager Wayne Hale said in a statement that he is confident that NASA would be able to launch in July for its mission. The US space agency has plans to launch a further two shuttle flights before the end of the year.
