Dell launches affordable printers to challenge Hewlett Packard
Just days after Dell announced their decision to adopt AMD processors for some of their server products, the company launched a series of new laser printers and open-standards monitoring software to challenge the domination of Hewlett Packard in this market.
The new products from the world’s largest PC manufacturer includes two color-printer models–the 3010cn and 5110cn–and three back-and-white printers, the 5310n, 5210n, and 1815dn.
The aim is to compete against HP when it comes to providing affordable printing solutions to the consumers. The company is offering color printing for the price of some black-and-white models offered by its rivals in the market.
Dell also launched OpenManage software, which can track ink levels, and maintenance schedules in any printer using the MIB (management information base) network management protocol.
