Samsung to launch Flash NAND memory based laptops
South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has said that they would soon be launching PCs embedded with a 32-gigabyte NAND flash-based, solid-state disk (SSD).
These products are expected to arrive sometime next month and would revolutionize the way data is stored on portable computers.
Samsung is also already working on launching hybrid hard drives in the market, which combine flash memory with old-fashioned hard drive technology to provide faster boot and access times.
The company claims that it would be the first company in the world to provide NAND flash in a commercial mobile computing application, setting the stage for flash-based memory disks replacing hard disk drives.
The drives powering these devices would have storage with read time of 53 Mpbs. This itself is around three times faster than standard hard disks available in the market.
