Honda to launch a diesel car in Japan in 3 years
Japanese automobile maker Honda has plans to launch a diesel engine powered car in the home market within the next three years.
This would be the first time that the company would be bringing diesel engine powered cars in the domestic market.
Honda has said in a statement that the car would be powered by a high-performance, environment-friendly diesel engine which “should arouse no resistance whatsoever even in the Japanese market.â€
Diesel engines are relatively very popular in the European market, as they are considered more efficient and environment friendly. Japanese market has few diesel cars, as they are widely considered unfriendly to the environment.
Honda believes that their new engine would be able to “clear tough emission regulations in the United States and curb the generation of nitrogen oxide and particulate matter to the comparable level of gasoline enginesâ€.
This engine might even make an entry into the highly price sensitive and value conscious Indian automobile market.
