Dell to open retail stores to counter new challenges from Apple
Dell is doing an Apple. They are planning to open up two stores this year where consumers can touch and feel the machines before buying.
Ironically, the company became the world’s largest maker of personal computers by cutting out retailers and selling direct.
These two stores would be opened in Dallas and in West Nyack, New York and would be showcasing Dell’s products and ease the task of ordering online.
The aim is to help consumers decide what they want to purchase so that they can be sure about what they are going to order online from Dell.
Dell is facing increasing competition from other players in the market including Hewlett Packard and Lenovo.
Dell representative Venancio Figueroa said in a statement: “There’s a lot of Dell customers who prefer to buy Dell products online, sight unseen. They’re comfortable with the brand, the product, the value we bring. At the same time, some people need to see the products.â€
These stores would however not offer any kind of hands-on technical support.
