Sprint Nextel talking with Sling Media for mobile content
Sprint Nextel Corp. has said that they are currently talking with media technology developer Sling Media Inc. and several other companies with the aim of enhancing its mobile entertainment services.
The company is already involved in providing services to deliver music and video to cell phones and has also collaborated with several cable companies.
Now, they are aiming at adding more programming to make their services lucrative to mobile users in their domestic market where they are the third largest player.
Sprint Nextel wants these services to be as accessible as turning on a television set and this would take a lot of effort from them. And they are looking at suitable technology providers for this purpose.
One of the main companies being considered is privately held Sling Media. This company is already developing a product that lets consumers view their home cable TV service on their cell phones.
Sprint Nextel has said that they might even consider the option of producing their own mobile content if the need arises.
