Lenovo launches laptops with support for 3G cellular data service

Chinese PC manufacturer Lenovo who made big news last year after acquiring the PC unit of IBM has announced the availability of notebook computers with built in support for 3G cellular data service.

They are primarily targeted at the European markets. Lenovo added in a statement that it has started to offer the built-in support for the 3G network run by Vodafone.

In addition, they also have plans to launch notebooks with built-in 3G support in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.

They are not alone. The rivals including Dell and HP also are starting to build 3G support into their notebooks.

Users would also be able to ask for this facility as an add-on on some of its ThinkPad T60 and X60 notebook computers. These notebooks connect to the internet using Vodafone’s HSDPA 3G networks in addition to Wi-Fi local area networking.
