Google and Dell Computers collaborates on search tools for PCs

Microsoft might find themselves in major trouble if they continue to let these kinds of deals happening. They lost out on a major opportunity when Google acquired 5% in AOL and expanded their deal with the company for online advertisement.

Then, Yahoo! collaborated with ecommerce giant eBay on searching and online advertisement deals. The latest news is that Google has now signed on a deal with the world’s largest maker of personal computers Dell.

This deal would see Dell shipping their computers with Google software pre-installed on their machines. With Microsoft investing a lot on their search engine and other web services, this might cause a big hassle for them when Vista ships and Live services are launched.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt confirmed at the Goldman Sachs Annual Internet Conference: “In fact, we have signed the deal. It’s a big, big deal for both companies.”

This would help Google get their search tools on tens of millions of computers. The two companies would be sharing the revenues generated through these tools on the Dell computers.

Dell would be loading Google Desktop and Google Toolbar on their machines, which helps the user find information on their computer without relying on the internal tools provided by Microsoft Windows OS. We might also see Dell using Google as the homepage of the Internet Explorer browser on their computers.

Google has also said that they would be offering Google Desktop for Enterprise, search software with corporate administrative controls, to Dell’s SMB and enterprise customers.
