StreamCast Networks sues eBay and others
StreamCast Networks has announced that they are suing eBay and twenty-one other defendants for $12.3 billion. This lawsuit is in relation to misappropriating of intellectual property.
They had earlier filed a similar suit against Skype, which is now owned by eBay. That lawsuit is now amended to include eBay. It has been filed in a federal court in the central district of California in Los Angeles on Monday.
Outside Counsel Dan Woods of the global law firm, White & Case spoke on this issue: “The sale of Skype to eBay was made possible through a scheme by many of the defendants to misappropriate the FastTrack peer-to-peer technology that rightfully belongs to StreamCast. We’ve now added eBay as a defendant to this lawsuit.â€
The lawsuit claims that the defendants played an “elaborate over-seas shell game” to steal customers and technology from Steamcast. They are seeking at least $4.1 billion for actual damages and at least $12.3 billion in treble damage.
