Bloggers win legal battle against Apple Computers

A San Jose-based appeals court has finally rejected Apple Computer’s demand from the Bloggers to name the sources of their information related to one of its new products.

The courts have thus practically granted First Amendment protections to Bloggers and Web site operators.

The ruling means that Bloggers and webmasters would now enjoy the same protections against news sources as established news magazines and media have.

However, this decision is likely to be contested in the California Supreme Court.

This lawsuit is related to a lawsuit filed by Apple two years ago. They demanded from editors of multiple blogs to reveal the identities of individuals who leaked internal company documents.

The company claimed that these blogging sites had no right to publish stolen company trade secrets. They had a minor victory later on when a trial judge decided that Apple had a right to find out who stole and leaked the confidential information.
