Tata Rs. 1 Lakh car to have Chinese parts

China is again showing that it rules when it comes to manufacturing components and hardware at cheap rates. As per incoming reports, Tata Motors is likely to source major components for its Rs 1-lakh car from China.

They might import engine parts and exteriors such as sheet metals, viper, and headlights from China. China provides a great sourcing industry to Tata for this low cost but high volume automobile being planned for the Indian market.

Sources say that one of the primary reasons for Tata Motors to base the manufacturing base for this car in West Bengal was its proximity to China.

The company is rumored to be considering a synergistic tie-up with auto player Lifan in China for sourcing of engine parts for the new car. However, engine is something they would have to develop in house to keep the costs low.

Tata might even use some of the components of their four-wheeler cargo carrier Ace in this car to further cut costs.
