AMD to expand two factories in Germany
World’s second largest maker of microprocessors for personal computers AMD is now looking at expanding its production facility to meet the growing demand in the market.
The company is planning to spend an additional $2.5 billion to upgrade and expand its two factories in Germany.
The company has shown considerable gain in the server market and is now aiming for growth in the notebook segment and has recently launched some exciting products for this market.
Another possible reason for this planned expansion is that world’s largest maker of personal computers Dell has announced their plans to add AMD processor based server products in their lineup.
This is expected to bring them a lot of business in the coming years. AMD Chief Executive Hector Ruiz said in a statement on these plans: “As global demand continues to rise for AMD products, we are scaling our manufacturing capacity intelligently to meet our customers’ growing needs.â€
This expansion plan of the company is expected to generate 420 jobs in the next three years in Dresden.
