Nissan Motor facing problems in home market
Japan’s second- largest automaker Nissan has said that they are facing a serious problem in the home market, as the sales are lower than expectations. The company says that they are selling fewer vehicles domestically than it had forecast.
Nissan is in the process of phasing out older models and launching new models out by the end of the current year. Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga in fact said that the situation is worse than they had expected.
Nissan is due to come out with four new cars in the Japanese market this year and this should help them improve on the sales figures in the coming months. The company’s domestic sales fell 27 percent last month to 34,681 units.
Nissan is also facing problems due to the changing habits of the Japanese consumer, as they now prefer to buy smaller and cheaper minicars amid rising gasoline prices.
