Chinese government enacts Internet copyright regulation

The Chinese government has shown its commitment to prevent copyright violations on the internet and have passed the internet copyright regulation.

This law would result in fines and punishment for the violators. The lawbreakers will face fines of up to 100,000 renminbi (US$12,500) for unauthorized use of copyrighted material on the Internet.

This copyright law would be active from July 1 and with this, anything uploaded to the internet in the nation would require copyright holder’s permission.

Also, the law prohibits producing, or importing devices capable of evading copyright protection. The government had come under pressure from the authorities around the world for enacting such a law and they have finally done the needful.

Market analysts are however skeptical of the fact that whether the government would be able to enforce such a law. However, knowing the government’s control on the censorship in the nation… it should not be hard for them to apply the law.
