Nissan Motor to test drive fuel cell cars
Japanese automaker Nissan Motor has said that they would soon offer its fuel-cell car for test drives in Japan for up to a year. The aim is to check out the practicality of driving such a car in normal circumstances.
The company said that they would allow consumers to take its X-Trail FCV for a spin around its Tokyo headquarters every weekend in June.
This feedback would be used to assist its development of the zero-emissions technology. They would soon be announcing a schedule for a longer period of testing by the normal drivers.
This hydrogen power vehicle developed by Nissan has a top speed of 150 km an hour and a cruising range of more than 370 km. it has been approved by the authorized for public testing but is still not considered safe for sale.
Other than Nissan, domestic rivals Toyota and Honda too have been working on similar projects, which are said to be years away from launch in the auto markets around the world.
