Toyota recalling 1 million cars globally

World’s second largest automaker Toyota has announced that they are recalling as many as 1 million vehicles around the world. The fault lies in the intermediate shafts and sliding yokes.

The company has already filed with the Japan’s Transport Ministry and they would now be recalling a total of 565,756 vehicles in Japan. These include Wish, Isis, Prius and other cars built between September 2002 and November 2005.

Around 400,000 cars would be recalled from the company’s global markets. Toyota added that they are conducting a “special service campaign” in the United States for 170,000 Toyota Priuses, which are said to be suffering from steering malfunction.

The company added that this special service campaign is different from the usual recall, as no incidents have been reported in these markets. They have also not disclosed on how much this recall is going to cost them.
