The US market is increasingly becoming a domain of the Japanese automobile makers. Toyota and Honda are increasingly become a bigger player in the market and Toyota is all set to become the world’s largest car market going by the sales statistics in the US market.
Now, the latest incoming news is that Volkswagen AG, Europe’s largest carmaker is considering working with DaimlerChrysler AG, the world’s fifth-largest carmaker to develop cars for the US market.
This might be a compact model with good fuel efficiency, which is increasingly becoming a high demand model in the US market. Hans-Gerd Bode, a Volkswagen spokesman said on this news report: “We are in talks with DaimlerChrysler on several projects. There are no final decisions yet.â€
The two companies are already working together on many projects including a minivan for Volkswagen to sell in the U.S. DaimlerChrysler is also manufacturing a transport van in Germany for Volkswagen and the latter supplies engines for DaimlerChrysler.
