Suzuki planning a midsize car for North America
Suzuki Motor Corp has said that they are planning to launch a new mid size car in the US market looking at the growing demand for fuel-efficient cars in this market.
The company said in a statement: ‘We will sell cars with an engine displacement of around 2 liters in North America, which we will produce in Japan’
However, not much detail has been provided by the Japanese automobile maker which trails the bigger home rivals Toyota and Honda in this market.
This report was first released by the Japanese media group Nihon Keizai Shinbun that said that Suzuki intends to launch the new car in 2009, and targets sales of over 100,000 units a year.
The US market is seen a dramatic shift in consumer choice as more people are discarding SUVs in favor for fuel efficient cars as the fuel prices are touching record heights.
