Advanced Micro Devices to step up transition to better chip designs
AMD might be the smaller player to Intel in the PC microprocessor market but they are not slowing down their development path to challenge the domination of the market leader.
The company announced that they are in the process of transition to even more advanced chip designs and would be launching faster processors for servers and cooler ones for notebooks in the coming months.
AMD is also planning to make it easier for other chipmakers to interface more easily with its products. This will ensure better compatibility with other components used in computers.
AMD is also working on massively enhancing their production capabilities to take on Intel as more and more PC manufacturers are using their processors in their products. Dell recently announced their decision to launch AMD powered server products in the coming months.
The company has gained significantly in the server markets in the recent past due to better product offering which consumed less power. The next aim is to capture a part of the notebook market, which is currently dominated by Intel Centrino based processor packages.
