eBay seeking their user’s help on net neutrality
Online retailing giant eBay is looking at its massive user base to enter into the debate on net neutrality. The company is now seeking support from their users to get involved in the debate over telecommunications laws.
eBay is asking their users to send a message to their representatives in Congress before it is too late.
Meg Whitman, chief executive of the eBay posted in a message on the website: “The telephone and cable companies in control of internet access are trying to use their enormous political muscle to dramatically change the internet. It might be hard to believe but lawmakers in Washington are seriously debating whether consumers should be free to use the internet as they want in the future.”
Interestingly, this is the first time eBay is asking for user intervention to weigh in on a national issue. And this also happens to be the first such communication from the company’s chief executive to their users. This alone highlights the importance of this issue for the web companies and the web users in general.
