Intel set to launch Merom, Conroe and Woodcrest

Microprocessor giants Intel is due to launch some of their most important products ever since the launch of the first Pentium processors a couple of years back.

Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s sales and marketing group is due to showcase a couple of new dual-core chips today and these are developed for desktop PCs, notebooks, and servers.

Intel claims that these new processors bring significant increase in the performance and consume little power compared to the current generation of Intel processors.

The company would be introducing its Merom mobile processor, which they claim offers a 20-percent increase in performance over Intel’s Core Duo mobile processors. This comes at the same power consumption with processors running at similar clock speed.

Intel would also be showcasing their Conroe desktop chip and the Woodcrest server chip. Both these processors would help the company take on newer and advanced products from the AMD.
