Warner Music invests in Japan on content development
Warner Music has acquired a minority stake in a Japanese firm FrontMedia that produces radio programming for the mobile platform.
This is one of the latest deals in the market of producing content for sale in the digital format. They would be supplying it music in exchange for the chance to expand the firm’s mobile broadcasting and video services in the Japanese market.
FrontMedia is also involved in producing full-length over-the-air music downloads which they supply to NTT DoCoMo. They also supply content for the first interactive mobile broadcast service in the country using free mobile TV site Click.TV.
The deal with FrontMedia comes after Warner Music collaborated with South Korea’s top wireless operator SK Telecom and South Africa’s Johnnic Communications.
