Times TV: The Times planning an internet service to gain audience
The Times newspaper has plans to launch an online television service to increase their online user base. They would be providing video news clips on this new service to attract more web users and gain revenues through online advertisement.
Times TV would initially be showcasing video content from third party sources. They would be inviting newsworthy content from their online visitors to fuel the availability of videos on this service.
They have not officially revealed the sources for this new service though it can include news companies like Reuters, the British news and financial information group. They might even get some help from BSkyB, which is a sibling as both Times and BSkyB are owned by the same parent group News Corporation.
Les Hinton, executive chairman of News International which runs The Times said that the aim of this new service is to triple the page impressions on their website in the next couple of years.
