DaimlerChrysler looking for partners to launch Smart car in USA
US based automaker DaimlerChrylser is apparently looking for potential business partners to help launch the Smart car in the US market.
DaimlerChrylser is planning to launch the Smart ForTwo minicar in the United States. Company Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said in a statement: “The sales network is decisive…It is certain that we want to cooperate with a third party.â€
He added: “The small city car doesn’t fit optimally in many cases to the strong luxury positioning of the Mercedes-Benz brand and its locations.â€
The final decision on the launch of this car would come this month as the company is looking at small cars to boost sales in the country. DaimlerChrylser is suffering falling demand for this car in the existing markets and is planning to stop the Smart ForFour model in the coming months.
