Sony Vaio AR Premium coming soon with a Blu-Ray drive
Consumer electronics major Sony is due to come out with a new notebook next week, which would feature the Blu-ray Disc, drive.
This new notebook is named Sony Vaio AR Premium and it would be priced in the region of $3,500. It would be powered by the Intel Core Duo processor and would feature 1GB of memory, a 17-inch screen.
This notebook would come with a complimentary copy of the “House of Flying Daggers” movie in Blu-Ray format to let the users make use of their HD compatible disc drive. Sony is already taking pre-orders for this new product on their website.
This would be the first notebook product from the company featuring the much controversial Blu-Ray format drive. Sony is competing with Toshiba and their HD DVD format to win the war for the standard for next generation storage. While many companies have already released HD DVD compatible products in the market, Blu-Ray is yet to make its presence felt.
By the end of the month, Sony would also be launching the RC300 desktop, a multimedia PC that would feature a Blu-ray drive.
