Google still experimenting with graphical advertising
Online content based advertisements has been a specialty of the search engine giant Google. However, the company has been trying to get into alternative advertisements in the recent times and have released both graphical and video ads.
However, these initiatives have not been as successful as advertisers and publishers both prefer text ads, which are not so intrusive.
Sheryl Sandberg, Google’s vice president of global online sales spoke on these ongoing experiments: “I think it’s fair to say we have basically just started.â€
The company continues to make a bulk of its revenues from selling pay-per-click, text-based advertising. Rivals including Yahoo! continue to dominate graphical and display advertisement. Just recently, they started testing out “click to play” video advertising.
Google added that eventually they would want to offer all kind of advertisement whether it is on the web or in the print media.
