Dell might launch AMD powered Desktops by September this year

Citigroup analyst Glen Yeung has said in a statement that he expects the world’s largest PC maker Dell to start offering AMD processor powered desktop machines starting from September this year.

Dell recently announced their plans to add AMD based server products to their lineup after consumer demanded these products.

However, the company has not revealed any plans to bring this processor to their desktop line of computers.

Glen Yeung said that his information is based on inputs from PC component makers in Asia. Dell has declined to comment on this latest rumor in the market.

Dell has been using Intel processors exclusively since the last 22 years of operations. A move to include AMD powered machine is already a big change for the company.

Dell also recently acquired privately held Alienware, which manufactures high-end computers for video game enthusiasts. And some of these products are already using high performance AMD processors.

Intel on their part has announced that they would be bringing massive price cuts on their products to counter the growing challenge from AMD.
