Toyota plans to double hybrid lineup by early 2010s
Toyota Motor has said that they are aiming to double the number of hybrid auto models in the early 2010s. They are already the world’s second largest maker of automobiles in the world and one of the dominating players in the hybrid segment.
The company has renewed its commitment to the hybrid technology as it helps in reducing pollution and oil dependence.
Toyota is already making the popular Prius hybrid car and has set itself a target of sales of 1 million hybrid cars annually soon after 2010.
The company added that they are working on improving technology across the powertrain spectrum. Toyota believes that the hybrid technology will be the core technology in the 21st century for automobiles.
