AOL might get out of dialup business from Europe

Time Warner’s internet division AOL has said in a statement that they are reviewing their business operations in the European market.

The company is further planning to expand in this highly lucrative market but is considering getting out of the dial-up business in the region.

Jonathan Miller, AOL’s chief executive officer said in a statement during the Deutsche Bank Media and Telecoms conference: “We believe we have a very good future and need to be on the Web in Europe.”

He further said: “The goal is to extend our presence on the Web in concert with any potential partners … in that we may or may not stay in the (dial-up) access business.”

Rumors in the market claims that AOL has hired Citigroup to review its AOL Europe business. The company has however confirmed that they are not planning to sell their operations in this region.
