Google launches Google US Government Search site

Search engine giant Google is now targeting users and government officials who have to search US government sites for information.

The company has launched a new section on their site dedicated to the US government official sites. This new section is called: Google U.S. Government Search.

It is pretty much like Google Personalized Homepage and feature weather information from Washington and news for the various government websites. In addition, it has a specialized search box to hunt information available on government sites.

Google’s latest venture is kind of a competitor to the government’s own Firstgov.gov website, which uses Microsoft’s MSN Search technology. However, Google believes that their portal would compliment that service and in the end empowers the web users to get access to the publicly available data.

Google also plans to include relevant information from regular news sources to enhance the quality of information available on this site.
