Bill Gates to give up his role as chief software architect at Microsoft
World’s richest man Bill Gates would step out of his daily role at Microsoft in July 2008. He would also be giving up the position as the Chief Software Architect at that time.
Gates would then be spending more time on global health and education initiatives through his foundation, which is already credited with several achievements.
He would however continue to remain the chairman at Microsoft and would work as an advisor to the company.
His position as the Chief Software Architect would be taken over by Chief Technology Officer Ray Ozzie. He would now be working with Gates on all technical architecture and product oversight responsibilities, to ensure a smooth transition.
Chief Technical Officer Craig Mundie would be taking over the new role of chief research and strategy officer. He would also be working closely with Gates to take over the company’s research and development efforts.
