TyTN, MTeoR: High Tech Computer to sell their own branded mobile phones
Taiwan based tech company High Tech Computer has said that they are planning to sell their own branded mobile phones.
The company is already the biggest maker of Windows Mobile platform based mobile phones for other companies.
HTC has some high profile clients including Vodafone and Verizon and PC makers Dell and Hewlett-Packard.
Two of the first products are being named TyTN and MTeoR and these would be available in retail stores from late July.
HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou spoke about their plans: “Smart mobility, the convergence of business applications and consumer functionality, is the future. We aim to continually develop new products …. Our operator and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) strategy remains key to this success.”
They are playing it safe to prevent their existing customers breaking away business connections with them. HTC has said that they would be targeting markets where their partners are not selling phones developed by them.
