Verizon Communications to carry public television broadcasts
Verizon Communications has said that they have managed to strike a 10-year deal for their subscription television service. The company would now be able to telecast a wide range of programming from public television stations.
The company is expanding fast in this new market they recently entered and this deal is just the latest of the series to expand their programming. Verizon is aiming to capture a larger market base by providing a converged package of variety of services.
Kathryn Brown, Verizon’s senior vice president for public policy development spoke on this new development: “Verizon is excited to add this programming, as well as public television’s new offerings available through its digital multicasts.â€
More and more television stations are switching to digital broadcasts as this allows them to provide better quality visuals and audio to the end customers. And newer technologies are enabling them to offer additional channels beyond their primary station.
