Wikipedia protects some entries from public modification

After getting involved into several controversies related to the accuracy of its content, Wikipedia is now censoring certain articles from editing by regular users.

As per news reports, Wikipedia now has three levels of article permissions. Some articles are totally blocked for editing by regular web users, some can be editing only by regular members while the rest of the articles are free for editing by anyone.

Albert Einstein, Christine Aguilera and China are examples of articles, which are totally barred from editing by the non-Wikipedia staff.

Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia’s founder spoke about these security measures, which puts a question mark on the Wiki-ness of the Wikipedia: “Protection is a tool for quality control, but it hardly defines Wikipedia. What does define Wikipedia is the volunteer community and the open participation.”
