NASA: Space Shuttle Discovery would fly to space on July 1
US Space Agency NASA has said that the planned space shuttle mission of Discovery would start on July 1. This comes after a gap of almost a year while NASA worked on improving the safety aspects of this spacecraft.
NASA administrator Michael Griffin finally made the decision to launch Discovery on a trip to the international space station. He held meetings with several mission managers and engineers before arriving at this decision.
Some did recommended that NASA should have waited till improvements were made on the shuttle’s fuel tanks but overall they believe that the Space Shuttle is ready for a safe mission to space.
Griffin added that the agency is confident that the launch would not pose a danger to the shuttle’s crew despite the fact that there was still room for improvement in the design of the outer fuel tanks.
