Audi wins the Le Mans 24-hour race in France with a diesel engine car!

Audi has done it again. The company won the Le Mans 24-hour race in France for the first time with a diesel engine powered car. Audi benefited from the advances in engine and fuel technology to overcome the challenges provided by gasoline-powered cars.

The Audi’s diesel car was driven by Germans Frank Biela and Marco Werner, and Italy’s Emanuele Pirro and they completed a record 380 laps at speeds over 200 kilometers an hour (125 miles an hour).

Audi’s car for this race was powered by a R10 turbo diesel injection, 12-cylinder engine and it was developed by its Audi AG, the luxury and sports car division. The fuel powering this car was made by Royal Dutch Shell Plc.

The company had also entered another diesel car in the competition, which came at the third place in the race. Audi has now won the event six times in seven years. Audi has now inspired PSA Peugeot Citroen to enter the legendary event with their own diesel car.
