Verizon Communications sues Vonage Holdings

Vonage Holdings has said in a statement that they have been served with infringement lawsuits filed by two units of Verizon Communications.

This is more bad news for the company as they are struggling with their recent IPO launch and consumer complaints related to a related scam.

Verizon Service Corp. and Verizon Laboratories Inc. have sued the company claiming that they had infringed on seven patents related to voice-over-Internet Protocol technology.

Vonage is the market leaders in the VoIP technology based telephony service in the United States but faces massive challenges in the future from competing companies.

The company has responded by saying that their VoIP based service is powered by proprietary technology and technology licensed from third parties and they would be fighting the lawsuit vigorously.
