MySpace.com sued, plans to further bolster security measures
MySpace.com is one of the fastest growing internet communities and one of the most popular social networking portals around. The company has said that they will bolster protection for minors after they are continuing to receive more problems.
MySpace.com has in fact being sued by a teenage girl who claims that the website resulted in her getting sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old man she met on the site.
MySpace plans to make it compulsory for members over 18 years old to know the e-mail or first and last name of any 14- to 15-year-old member, if they want to contact them through the service. In addition, the members on this network would also be able to choose to hide their online profiles from strangers.
Hemanshu Nigam, chief security officer of Fox Interactive Media spoke about these new initiatives: “We’re going to build a foundation of safety and security so that social networking is a safe place and a well-lit community.â€
