Netflix considering various options to sell movies through internet downloads
Online DVD rental company Netflix has said that they are considering a range of options for their plans to make available movies for download on the internet.
Netflix said this in a regulatory filing clarifying the confusion started by the comments from their vice president of original programming Eric Besner who said that the company was planning to develop a proprietary set-top box to enable movie download from the internet.
This resulted in a situation where market analysts started commenting that the company is narrowing down its downloading strategy to a set-top box product.
Netflix further went on to clarify that they are still going through the available options and have not decided on a particular route to provide movies for download.
The company is investing $5 million to $10 million this year in downloading technology.
